25th SPIEF in Figures, Expectations and Reality
On June 18, on the closing day of the 25th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, the final press conference with participation of Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee and SPIEF Executive Secretary, was held. He accounted for the results of the project: over 4 days, participants had signed 691 agreements for the value of 5.6 tln. rubles.
Thus, this year, 14,000 people from 131 countries of the world took part in the anniversary 25th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum. Delegations from friendly countries came to EXPOFORUM as well as ones from USA and Europe, and 79 states sent their official representatives to the Forum. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee, 691 agreements for the value of 5.6 tln. rubles were signed, and by the end of the day this sum would reach 6 tln.
“And these are preliminary and statistical results, only those figures that are not considered classified information,” Advisor to the President emphasized.
The Forum featured 1,500 speakers; 3,400 journalists worked at the venue.
Also, Anton Kobyakov noted that almost all representatives of the RF Government took part in the Forum as well as members of the Federation Council, State Duma and non-governmental organizations.
214 events took place in the framework of the Business Program. “It’s not a small amount though the area is limited. Our project exceeds the venue already, so I earnestly ask St. Petersburg authorities to support the initiative of the organizers and to extend the EXPOFORUM Convention and Exhibition Center at least twofold,” Anton Kobyakov said voicing the initiative.
Also, the Advisor to the President told about DDos attacks that had been supposed to disrupt the Vladimir Putin’s speech at the SPIEF plenary session, according to attackers: “We were bombed by hackers, but we managed and now we know they exist. The attacks were arranged with a capacity of 140 gigabits per second. We received 15 mln. packages per second. We were attacked from IP addresses in USA, Ukraine, Indonesia, Brazil, Columbia, Thailand and other countries. We will enhance security at all the subsequent events — this and next year. We’ll take all the required measures.”
Thus, according to the speaker, the 25th Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum is coming to an end with magnificent results despite the expectations of ill-wishers.
