The International Health Forum Has Been Opened in St. Petersburg

The St. Petersburg International Health Forum has been opened on October 20 in ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre. Its three-day program includes conferences and panel discussions for medical practitioners, heads of clinics; representatives of academic circles, government agencies, public health system and Rospotrebnadzor on pandemic response, development of digital technologies in medicine, and the infrastructure of the industry. For all three days the Medical Industry Exhibition will work in the framework of the Forum.

Before the beginning of the Forum, the latest developments of Russian and foreign medical enterprises were introduced to Vice Governor of St. Petersburg Oleg Ergashev and Head of the St. Petersburg Health Committee Dmitry Lisovets. Executives of the Northern Capital who have extensive medical experience lingered over the very first stand, where the EMERCOM reanimation vehicle was presented. A high-technology mobile complex of pre-hospital medical care is equipped with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation technique; it’s successfully used to bring patients out of clinical death just a few minutes after the call to the ambulance. “There are only two of them in the north-west and a bit more in Moscow though,” said Andrei Pavlov, a Head of the Emergency Anaesthesiology and Reanimation Department in Federal State Budgetary Institute “The Nikiforov Russian Center of Emergency and Radiation Medicine” of EMERCOM of Russia.

Representatives of the city government also got a look at diagnostic medical equipment: ophthalmoscopes made by Shvabe Holding, a part of Rostec State Corporation, as well as at CAMEO personal protection equipment for medical workers, Diamed medical furniture, special purpose vehicles of a mobile ambulatory of the Kirov Interdistrict Hospital of the Leningrad Region, products of other Russian manufacturing enterprises operating in the medical industry.

“It’s very important for us to develop our own manufacturing sites, to develop our own enterprises where medical equipment and pharmaceutical drugs are made. In these challenging times, Russia has to be ready to start satisfying all its medical needs itself. It’s a strategic industry, hence, we – doctors, government officials, equipment and drugs manufacturers – need to be ready for any scenario,” Oleg Ergashev said after his tour across the exhibition.

Sergey Voronkov, CEO of the project’s organizer – ExpoForum International, commented, “St. Petersburg is turning into the Russian center of medical congresses. This forum is held together with the Government of St. Petersburg. Tomorrow the Russian National Congress of Cardiology is opening in EXPOFORUM, and in a week the Vreden’s Readings, a Russian forum of orthopedic specialists which also features participants from abroad, is to be held. We have already hosted 4 global congresses: on radioscopy, urinology, and orthopedics; and 4 more global medical congresses will be held in St. Petersburg, at EXPOFORUM, by 2024. This trend will be nothing but growing. The goal of this Health Forum is to focus on interdisciplinary topic. Next year, the Medical Tourism Forum will be held. Export of our medical services is growing. St. Petersburg is a highly-sought city in terms of getting medical treatment here. The city has exquisite competencies, and the prices are several times lower than abroad. The next forum will be even more impressive, and St. Petersburg is already a medical capital of Russia, I’m sure.”

The St. Petersburg International Health Forum will last till October 22, 2021. Learn more about the Business Program of the event on the website.
