Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre opens in St. Petersburg

The construction of Expoforum demonstrates that Russia is open and receptive to international communication, collaboration, and the exchange of best practice.

With these words, Alexey Miller, Chairman of Gazprom’s Management Committee, greeted guests at the opening ceremony for the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition Centre. He emphasised that the new centre will provide a venue from which to develop Russia’s international trade links, and will boost St. Petersburg’s social and economic prosperity. He also added that by 2021, Expoforum will be ready to host “the largest, most significant event in the gas industry” – the World Gas Conference and Exhibition.

Having thanked Alexey Miller for his gift to the city, St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko noted that such a contemporary venue will help to attract even more international visitors and to develop business tourism. “Congresses, forums, exhibitions, and festivals will be held here, all of which will benefit St. Petersburg’s economy.”

The first event to take place at the new venue will be the 4th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, which will be attended by around 1,500 delegates from 25 countries.
