The equestrian exhibition “Hipposphere” opened in St. Petersburg

On 24 August, in the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre horse lovers and professional horse breeders gathered for the opening of the 19th International Equestrian Exhibition “Hipposphere,” Russia’s largest equestrian sports event.

  

The Chairman of the Committee on International Cooperation of the Eurasian Organisation of Economic Cooperation, President of the International Diplomatic Club Eurasia, Yuliya Kulikova, greeted the event participants and guests.

“Hipposphere is a charitable mission, an affair that promotes the development of young people. The exhibition will invariably demonstrate a brilliant programme,” she noted.

Yuri Andreev, Head of the St. Petersburg Veterinary Administration, spoke on behalf of the Government of the Northern Capital: “This event will bring a feeling of goodness and pride. Our city must be grateful to the horse, for horses and people participated in its establishment.”

The adviser to the Chairman of the Committee on Physical Education and Sports of St. Petersburg, Roman Shumansky, noted: “The Hipposphere is not only an exhibition, but also competitions that instil the culture of equestrian sports. I wish the participants victory!”

The leading Russian rider and trainer, a legend of trotting sports, master rider, General Secretary of the Commonwealth of Trotting Association of Russia, Alla Polzunova, greeted the horse lovers.

“This is a good tradition and an unusual contribution to the development of horse breeding. Only here, in St. Petersburg, do such exhibitions occur,” she remarked.

The President of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, Sergey Alekseev, talked about a recent trip to the Tersky Horse Ranch, where even now they store the diplomas from the 1998 Hipposphere exhibition.

“This means that we have not been working in vain all these years, with our common efforts we will revitalize equestrian sports!” he summed up.

“Hipposphere” is a unique event that combines spectator, sports and business format, as announced by CEO of ExpoForum International LLC, Sergey Voronkov. This year the project will have 200 horses of 30 breeds participating from various regions in Russia.

“Here are the best equestrian clubs, competitions, daily show. On the last day of the exhibition, we will choose the best horse of the competitions, the ‘Hipposphere’ prize winner,” said Sergey Voronkov and wished everyone a good mood and spectacle games.

During the gala opening ceremony, Alla Polzunova was congratulated on her 80th birthday on behalf of the “Hipposphere” exhibition. She wished that St. Petersburg would as soon as possible open its own hippodrome, maintaining the history and traditions of equestrian sports.

“Hipposphere 2017” is an exhibition of horses and products for animals and sportsmen, business events for specialists and a spectacular show and programme for the broad public.

The exhibitors display here products for horses and riders, feed and supplements, horse care tools, veterinary medicines and devices, and equipment for equestrian sports clubs. The business programme has 3,000 specialist participants. The programme includes 8th All-Russian International Conference “Hippotherapy – Path to Health” (organised by the National Federation of Hippotherapy and Adaptive Equestrian Sports), 3rd All-Russian – 1st International Seminar “Horse Health” for horse owners and veterinarians.

A show and programme await the visitors: parade of breeds – daily show of the participating horses: Orlov trotters, Akhaltekinsky stallion, Arabian, Terek, Don and Budyonny horse breeds, sports and draft horses, and ponies. There will be demonstrations on stunt riding, acrobatic jumping on horses, demonstrations of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region equestrian clubs, traditional mono-breed horse exhibitions where the country’s best horses will be shown.

For the first time during the exhibition, the All-Russian Championship on Stunt Riding will be held where sportsmen of varying ages will show their skills and battle for the title of champion. The competition and breaking-in will be presented by children’s competitions.

On 27 August, the last day of the exhibition, at the Bolshoi Riding Academy the judging panel will select the best horse of Russia, the Absolute Champion of the “Hipposphere” exhibition.

The exhibition organiser is ExpoForum International LLC, co-organisers are All-Union Research Institute of Horse Breeding and Stud Farm Kalganovsky. Official support for the project is provided by the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia and the St. Petersburg Federation of Equestrian Sports, in partnership with the group of companies Animal Health.
