“Agrorus,” the fair of regional products opened in Expoforum

On 19 August at the open ExpoForum site the fair of agricultural products “Agrorus” opened. Over 1,000 farmers and producers participate from all of Russia, from South Sakhalinsk to Pskov.

Thousands of St. Petersburg citizens came today for the main gastronomical holiday for the entire family, the “Agrorus” fair. Here there is lively trading of fresh natural product. For sale: meat, fish, honey, seasonal mushrooms and berries, jams and preserves, vegetables, fruits, milk, cheeses, sausages, dairy products, as well as non-food goods: clothing, housewares and garden equipment.

The most representative group of participants is farmers and enterprises from the Leningrad Region from whom one can buy meat, fish and dairy products. They include the meat-packing plant Neyma, smoked fish producer Novaya Ladoga, the plant of soft Italian and Caucasus cheeses from the Gatchina region Michelangelo, Vasileostrovskaya syrovarnya and many others.

Over 30 types of honey, including linden, acacia, buckwheat, chestnut and sweet clover are sold by bee keeper-apiculturists from Bashkiriya, Perm, Altai and Krasnodar Krais, Voronezh, Rostov and Pskov Regions.

Gardeners and summer residents buy rare types of roses, fruit and berry slips and ornamental trees. Plants are sold that are suitable for growing in the Northwest region. One of the major participants is the Fruit House of Igor from the Novgorod Region.

The fair is accompanied by a brilliant concert programme: the guests are entertained by a singer and the conductor Oleg Volga and children’s creative groups. Shish kebab lovers can be nourished with them right at the fair.

In 2017, “Agrorus,” the largest agricultural fair in Northwest Russia, moved completely from Lenexpo to the new site of ExpoForum. It is traditionally a part of the international agro-industrial exhibition and fair “Agrorus,” the business programme of which occurs on 22-25 August. The exhibition will unite major producers and demonstrate the achievements of small and large agricultural farms.

The street fair will run from 19 through 27 August. Starting 22 August, the fish market will be in full operation to delight the guests with tasty fresh-caught fish from local waters and the much-beloved live, chilled, smoked trout, whitefish, carp, salmon and sturgeon.

Even now the Pet Farm is operating: children can ride reindeer, horses and camels.
