"We come here because it’s delicious here": why you need to go to Agrorus

Improving import substitution and taking unforgettable gastronomic delight at the Agrorus-2022 Trade Fair which opened on August 26 in the ExpoForum.

Trade fairs are a traditional Russian entertainment. Sure, everything can be bought in a store. But the Russians are just keen on trade fairs. It’s where they go to for the unparalleled spirit of a feast, real-life communication and exciting stories. That’s what Agrorus gives its guests.

Even before the official opening, several lines of those who wanted to try and to buy the freshest, the most natural and exclusive delicacies from leading farmers of Russia have gathered near the tents and booths. Fabulous aromas, surplus of choices, eyes diverge... Moreover, a great sunny weather is expected at the weekend. It is, among other things, what Father Evgeny, an officer of the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Theotokos, asked for during the prayer service in honor of the fair opening. After the service, Father walked through the rows of shopping stalls and sprinkled them with holy water. Vendors took consecration with particular trepidation.

There is even a small icon in the booth of Eduard Petrovich, a famous honey seller. His products has been recognized the best at the People’s Tasting for six years in a row already. This year he intends to keep up with God’s help. A favorite contest of the guests will take place on August 28.

The apiarist shared a secret of his success with the ExpoForum press service: "In our business, it’s quality that matters. We offer a natural product without additives or aromatizing agents. We do everything honestly and our honey is delicious, so buyers appreciate it. We are happy to come here every year and to please people", says Eduard Petrovich.

His out-apiary of the Lammert family offers 14 kinds of honey. There’s a particularly exclusive kind: amorpha honey. Though buyers prefer maple honey and white honey with propolis.

"We have been coming here since the times of Lenexpo specifically to buy honey in Eduard Petrovich’s booth. Every year we buy from him and it’s always good. His honey is the most delicious, undoubtedly. And we love delicious things. We come here, because it’s delicious", Elena, one of the buyers, says.

And there are a lot of target buyers like her at Agrorus. Everyone goes to their preferred seller to buy their favorite goods they have been buying many years in a row.

The most colorful character of the trade fair is Mikhail who sells cold pressed oils. He meets the guests wearing a folk costume and gladly shows them his way of production using a unique device.

"I press oil like our ancestors used to do: on an oak-wood press. There are many kinds, some of them are one-of-a-kind. Aside from traditional sunflower oil, I produce almond, cedar, sesame, hemp, apricot, pumpkin and buckthorn oils. There are 12 kinds in total," says Mikhail.

According to the seller, all oils have healing properties and can replace pharmacy medications. One can be cured with synthetic pills, but he himself prefers gifts of nature.

"The main peculiarity of my oils is that due to cold pressing all the health properties, vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids: omega-3, omega-6 can be preserved. At plants, oil is made using hot pressing. Its output temperature is close to 80 degrees, so the content of useful substances is much lower in it. For example, commercial flax oil comes to the consumer being bitter and oxidized. But my oil is delicious, it’s tender, you can use it as a dressing for salads", goes on Mikhail.

Cheese connoisseurs headed for the El-Natural mobile stall. There was a tasting for everyone. Visitors praised a sophisticated taste of cheese that can’t be found in a store.

"Our private dairy is unique, because we use only our own raw materials and resources on all stages of production. We have our own farm, our own meadows, our own cows. We make all kinds of cheese with our hands using unskimmed milk. Everything is natural: it’s healthy food. We age cheese at least for half a year, so that they could gain special rich flairs.

We make everything: from exclusive cheeses invented by us (for example with fruit ash) to traditional kinds that can be found in stores: Gouda, Lamber, Rossiysky. We offer them at the trade fair, so that people could feel the difference between cheese bought in stores and farm craft products", says Svetlana, a representative of El-Natural.

The company has come to Agrorus for the fifth time. Its key objective is to prove that Russian cheeses are not worse than European ones, which El-Natural successfully manages to do.

"The main thing achieved by us and our colleagues over the recent years is that now Russian cheeses are at least not inferior to the imported ones and sometimes even surpass them. We have properly replaced European cheeses. And this fact is confirmed by reviews of our customers. They write to us saying that it’s as if they visited Spain and bought Spanish cheese," goes on Svetlana.

Russian kinds of cheese and other delicacies can be tried and bought at the Agrorus Trade Fair from August 26 to September 4, from 10:00 to 19:00.

There are free shuttle buses from the Moskovskaya metro station and a parking lot for car owners.

We’re waiting for each and every one! Learn details on the website of the trade fair.
