SPIGF-2022 started at ExpoForum

The XI St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF-2022), the most important industry event in the oil and gas industry, has started its work at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This year, all participants of this landmark event for the gas industry put the most pressing question at the head of discussions and meetings: how to predict industry opportunities in a situation of extreme uncertainty? Forming strategies for the future is the topic that will be heard most often from September 13 to 16 at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Every year the SPIGF program becomes more and more capacious and saturated, and the geography of the participating countries becomes more and more diverse. So, in 2022, more than 40 delegations and representatives of the gas industry from 22 countries of the world, including Algeria, Mozambique, Nigeria, Cameroon, South Korea, the USA, the Netherlands, Austria will work at the SPIGF venues; Serbia and Iran can be mentioned among the "newcomers". Over the decade, the exposition area of the Forum has grown from 7,000 to 30,000 sq. Meters, and this impressive area will host a business program of 20 topics and more than 80 events this year.

"A feature of the past, the X anniversary St. Petersburg International Gas Forum was a hybrid format: part of the discussions and round tables were held live, many conferences were held online, which provided powerful synergy and increased audience coverage in a pandemic," said CEO of EF-International Ltd, President of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, Sergey Voronkov. – "This year, the world has returned to the format of offline meetings, so we expect SPIGF-2022 to have special, lively discussion saturation. Of course, this Forum will not only provide an opportunity to share invaluable experience, but will also strengthen the image of the Russian fuel and energy complex, give a new impetus to attract investment into the Russian economy".

In the next four days, the Forum participants plan to outline the priorities for the gas industry development in the new conditions. The world is changing rapidly, and the activities of oil and gas and energy enterprises need to be adjusted just as quickly. At the XI St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, the most important topic will be import substitution in the oil and gas industry. This topic has been on the main agenda of the SPIGF for more than a year, but today, under the current sanctions against Russia, it is more relevant than ever.

The changes that have affected those countries where oil and natural gas are the main energy carriers in 2022 forced representatives of key oil and gas companies to enter into a constructive dialogue, look for and find growth points and prospects for expanding cooperation.

The forum will widely cover the environmental agenda, planning of technological developments using artificial intelligence, and personnel issues which are always relevant. The topics of gas production in the Arctic zone, the problems of underground gas storage and the secrets of servicing explosive zones can be added to new discussion points. And the main event of St. Petersburg International Gas Forum will be the Plenary Session Russian Gas Industry: Development Priorities in New Conditions with participation of representatives of the major oil and gas companies.

Traditionally, an important role at the SPIGF discussion platforms is given to the interaction of future industry leaders and leading experts from global oil and gas companies. To this end, meetings have been organized as part of the Youth Day, a unique project that allows students to share a fresh look at the industry future, and partner companies to communicate directly with the best young talents from around the world.

The organizers of SPIGF-2022 expect that the current Forum will be one of the largest for all the time. The list of planned events is really impressive. A large-scale exposition of technologies, equipment and services for the industry will unfold at the Forum site, the international specialized exhibition InGAS Stream 2022 – Innovations in the gas industry, the corporate exposition Import substitution in the gas industry and the international specialized exhibition Gas Motor Fuel will be organized, the exhibition of gas industry and technical means for gas facilities ROS-GAZ-EXPO will be also held.

OMR 2022, the international exhibition and conference for shipbuilding and developing high-tech equipment for exploring the Arctic and the continental shelf attracted particular attention of the professional community.
It is the integration of OMR 2022 into St. Petersburg International Gas Forum will make the event even more informative and demonstrate the potential of Russian and international practices in the development of marine energy resources.

All participants of the Gas Forum are looking forward to seeing new import substitution products at the venues. Since the most important and most anticipated industry event has returned to its traditional offline format, the organizers of SPIGF-2022 decided to keep the intrigue intentionally without announcing them in advance.
