Industrial Tourism Development Prospects Discussed at SPIEF-2022

On June 18, President of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs Sergey Voronkov took part in the roundtable discussion “Northwest Russia as a Paradise for Industrial Tourism: Analysis of Business Cases and Best Practices of Successful Regions”. The event at St. Petersburg booth completed the Business Program of SPIEF-2022 dedicated to business tourism.

“Industrial tourism is a very promising topic,” Sergey Voronkov said. “And the best way to promote it is through convention and exhibition events, by including it into business programs.

Certainly, each enterprise needs to invent and prepare interesting tours that include both cultural and historical information, and the practice of manufacturing. For example, we give such tours several times a month in EXPOFORUM. The demand is high, as EXPOFORUM, the most advanced convention and exhibition center in Europe is itself an interesting architectural and industrial landmark.

In autumn 2021, the Committee for Tourism Development launched a training program in the field of industrial tourism as part of the All-Russian Industrial Tourism Accelerator. In March 2022, the second round started their training. Twenty more industrial enterprises will go through the accelerator.

This year the topic of industrial tourism will be one of tracks of the Russian Industrialist project. We invited all the interested persons to exchange experience in EXPOFORUM in November.”

The project was organized and moderated by Kirill Smirnov, CEO of Petrocenter JSC.

Timur Siraev, Director of the Promising Projects Foundation; Elena Rakova, First Deputy Head of the Passenger Transportation Department, Russian Railways OJSC; Anna Fedorova, Director of the Development Agency of Monchegorsk, Sergey Mayorov, Chairman of the Board of the Machine Building Cluster of the Republic of Tatarstan, also took part in the event.
