The International Exhibition “InGAS Stream 2023: Innovations in the Gas industry” started within the SPIGF-2023

From smart pipelines to digital twins: innovations for the gas industry.

The exhibitors – the industry leaders, equipment manufacturers, development companies, scientific organizations – presented innovative solutions for the needs of the gas industry. Due to cooperation and introduction of high technologies into each production stage, companies develop global energy projects.

“Gazprom Drilling” presented modern solutions for gas extraction at the unified stand of the technical customer of “Gazprom”'s investment projects – “Gazprom Investments”.

“We are the largest well-drilling contractor, we perform the full cycle of drilling for offshore and onshore. In our opinion, digitalization of the drilling processes is the future”, stated a representative of “Gazprom Drilling”.

The company implements the project of high-tech drilling rigs for automatic drilling and maintenance of drilling mud parameters (together with “Uralmash NGO Holding” LLC), and a digital well workflow project “Electronic File of the Well” has been implemented at each field.

Energy innovations were presented at the stand of the “Rosatom” State Corporation.

“The concept of our exhibition stand is land and water. We mean competencies of the State Corporation on land (advanced materials and digital products for research) and on water (floating power units and nuclear icebreakers created by “Rosatom”)”, told us in the company.

The main product areas were shown digitally: energy solutions, hydrogen energy projects, storage systems, LNG equipment, field development, and development of the Northern Sea Route (which includes construction of the nuclear icebreaker fleet).

Digital solutions for gas turbine engines were presented by the integrated structure of “Rostec” – JSC “United Engine Corporation” (UEC). The “digital twins” of engines were on display at the company’s stand. These are such trainable systems based on mathematical models, which make it possible to develop gas turbine engines and optimally connect all components of a gas turbine.

“A gas turbine engine is one of the most complex mechanical devices. Hundreds of parameters must be taken into account here, and it is impossible to comprehend the full picture of the device without calculations”, comments the company’s representative. Currently, the UEC already has projects on creating the “digital twin” of the TV7-117ST and
AI-222-25 aircraft engines.

The UEC stand also showed the model of the automated gas pumping unit for compressor stations, produced on the basis of gas turbine drives manufactured by “UEC-Klimov” (using the example of the Novoprivodninskaya compressor station of “Gazprom” PJSC).

The whole line of intelligent solutions for the oil and gas industry was presented at the stand of “Komita Group”, which has been supplying the Russian industry with digital technologies for many years.

“We presented the Russian distributed control system and the emergency protection system with advanced intellectual functions for facilities of processing and liquefaction of hydrocarbon raw materials, the digital ecosystem of centralized management, the computer training complex using virtual and augmented reality technology, digital services and “digital twins”, the system for advanced process control and procedural automation”, told us in the company.

Sophisticated know-how was found at the stand of JSC “Concern VKO “Almaz-Antey”. For the needs of the energy complex, the company develops high-tech equipment and complex automated control systems (ACS), high-tech ceramics and ferrite products, etc. The Exhibition guests and participants could appreciate the project of the robotic gas production infrastructure maintenance complex using a group of autonomous remote-controlled uninhabited underwater vehicles.

“Remotely controlled robots are designed to automate maintenance and control of underwater gas production complexes”, explained the company’s representatives.  In addition to the robotic complex, “Almaz-Antey” presented piston compressor engines for compressing natural gas, as well as a sample of the valve block (an integral part of underwater fittings needed for suspension of tubing, shut-off valves for the supply of chemicals and a corrosion inhibitor). This block uses proprietary technologies that allow preparing and controlling application of anti-corrosion materials to hard-to-reach intersected surfaces of gas production valves.

The “vessels” of the gas industry are simple and complex pipelines, and there are innovations here, as well. Thus, JSC “United Metallurgical Company” demonstrated the design of a triple connecting node for oil and gas pipelines.

“This is a bimetallic assembly to consists of ferrous metal and stainless steel soldered together. This pipe is relatively inexpensive and lightweight, the design is chemically stable. We produce both the components and the pipes themselves”, explained the UMC’s representative.

Visitors to the stand of JSC “Zagorsky Pipe Plant”, a manufacturer of large diameter electric welded pipes, had the opportunity to feel themselves inside a large black and orange pipe.

“We have brought several samples here: the bimetallic pipe for difficult conditions (it is resistant to corrosion and suitable for projects implemented in the Far North); the K-70 strength class pipe suitable for transporting hydrogen”, said the company’s representative. By the way, this year the company supplies pipes for “Gazprom”'s South Stream project.

At the same stand, samples of rolled sheets from “Ural Steel Plant” JSC (part of “Zagorsky Pipe Plant” JSC since 2022), one of the leading Russian manufacturers of strips for large diameter pipes, pipe blanks, thick sheet and bridge steel (more than 100 grades of carbon and alloy steels), were presented.

Gas purification and treatment technologies were presented at the stand of the Association of Catalyst Plants (ACP), which includes “Salavat Catalyst Plant” (the leader in the production of catalysts and adsorbents for the oil and gas industry).

“We have brought a new technological solution – the adsorption system for production of hydrogen-containing gas, nitrogen, and helium by short-cycle adsorption. It allows obtaining hydrogen of high-quality purification”, said the company’s representative.

In turn, investment solutions for Russian gas industry enterprises were presented by JSC “AB Rossiya”, which finances the largest oil and gas, space, shipbuilding and defense projects in Russia. At the stand of “AB Rossiya”, guests were offered to issue the virtual credit card “World of Opportunities”, allowing them to use money without interest for 180 days.
