«The Way Home» festival has gathered nearly 30 dogs and cats who were sterilized, castrated, treated for parasites and vaccinated. Fluffy exhibits have been brought by different Saint Petersburg shelters: «Special Friend», «Vsevolozhsky Dog», «Pushdomik», «Friend», «Marussya and Tails», and the veterinary clinic «Tail».

Valeriia Kotlyuba, Director of the charitable fund «RYADOM» (NEAR) and the Head of «The Way Home» festival said that all visitors could take part in prize drawings and win the mugs, shoppers, pet goods. Everyone interested will also be able to participate in the master classes on decoupage and gypsum figure painting. All money gained will be transferred for the benefit of the shelters.

«The guests of the festival will get acquainted with the shelters’ fosterlings, communicate, walk them and complete questionnaires. After the festival the nominee for the future cat parents is approved by a zoo psychologist. Then we fill in an agreement, and the animal goes home», said Valeriia Kotlyuba.

Anastasiia Kolupaeva, an employee of the «Special Friend» shelter, share a sad though rather a life-affirming story about a very nice dog Dana with the exhibition visitors. «Special Friend» is the only Saint Petersburg shelter that searches for home for the old and disabled dogs. The dogs from all over Russia are brought here, and there are already over one hundred and fifty dogs here.

Dana is an eight-year-old purebred Central Asian Shepherd having an excellent exterior. For some years she has lived in a troubled family, was a true friend and gave birth to puppies all her life. And when the dog developed cancer, she was thrown out into the street. «Special Friend» arranged for the examination and several complicated surgeries on the malignant swelling resection. Now Dana is fully healthy but very lonely.

«Danochka has overcome everything, she is very courageous, says Anastasiia Kolupaeva, and now we are looking for a new home for her. Dana is not a typical Central Asian Shepherd, she is a pussy cat! She likes everything soft, and sleeps on the sofa while she is at our in-home boarding. She is very delicate and affectionate and has no aggression either to other animals or to children. Dana is our fascinating pussy cat».

As the dog is not than young already, the shelter is looking for the owners for her who have a quiet lifestyle and who will just walk with Dana without hurrying up.

«This is a dog for the soul, a friend, your soft pillow, which will be watching TV series with you. Like all dogs, she likes tasty things. A very quiet phlegmatic dog, as calm as a tank, and reliable! She considers herself a mommy trying to lick up and warm all puppies and small doggies». Nastya hugs Dana and believes that new owners are looking for her and will be found very soon.
