Strawberries, raspberries and trout at AGRORUS

On 2 August, the opening ceremony took place for the AGRORUS International Agricultural Exhibition.

The exhibition was opened by Vladimir Katenev, deputy of the Russian State Duma and chairman of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry: “This is the first event to be held in such a public format. This exhibition is a clear example of how agriculture, industry and production have not taken their foot off the pedal during the pandemic. We can see the incredible results achieved by our laborers, a wonderful example of the united agricultural complex”.

Guests and participants of the exhibition were welcomed by Oleg Malaschenko, deputy chairman of the Government of Leningrad Oblast and chairman of the Committee for the Agricultural and Fishery Complex: “The agricultural complex in Leningrad Oblast is working 24/7. We are developing, from berries to red prawns – in the fair you can see fish, meat and cheese products. There are 270 hectares of garden in the oblast today, and at the exhibition we will be signing an agreement for another 300 hectares of land for cultivating fruits and berries. The harvest is in full swing, and we have already collected the first 100 tons of strawberries, 25 tons of raspberries, and currants. Enjoy these fantastic treats”.

Alexei Yakovlev, deputy chairman of the Committee for Industrial Policy, Innovations and Trade of St. Petersburg, confirmed that during the crisis, the city’s food supply was not interrupted, prices had remained stable, and everything remained secure thanks to cooperation between the two large regions. Most of the products and materials processed at our enterprises come from Leningrad Oblast.

Alexei Kolchik, director of the St. Petersburg regional branch of the Russian Agricultural Bank JSC, emphasized that the Russian Agricultural Bank had already worked as a partner of the AGRORUS exhibition 20 times.

The ceremony was closed by Sergei Voronkov, CEO of Expoforum International: “We are the first constituent entity of the federation to be allowed to resume convention and exhibition activities. This is a particular honor for us – to open the fall convention and exhibition season with the AGRORUS exhibition and trade fair.
