Headliner of the opening of the Pet Show jubilee exhibition could not restrain his beastly appetite

“New Year’s Journey” quest, rat jumper races, poodle circus show, fashionable display of “beastly” costumes – the scope of the 30th anniversary Pet Show exhibition and its interactive content are amazingly diverse.

An eventful program of Russia’s largest exhibition of pets has officially opened on December 17 in EXPOFORUM. More than 3,000 different animals participate in the event: 2,000 dogs, 800 cats, reptiles, rodents and ferrets, as well as breeders, cynologists, animal psychologists, veterinarians, pet experts, representatives of manufacturers and distributors of pet food and products.

Sergey Voronkov, Director General of ExpoForum International, congratulated the partners, participants and guests of the event on the opening of the 30th anniversary exhibition.

“The unique thing about this exhibition is that the protagonists of today’s event are not people, but our animal 'family members'. They are the ones who brought their hosts here, not the other way around,” Sergey Voronkov said at the official opening ceremony, and added, “If people were as loyal and direct as dogs, as self-sufficient as cats, and as wise as snakes, there would be happiness on Earth.”

The opening ceremony was also attended by organizer of festival of animals from “Way Home” shelters Valeria Kotlyuba, Director General of Supremo Company Sultan Mavlonazarov, and president of “Varieta” club of cat lovers Irina Katser.

The most remarkable guest of the opening ceremony winning the attention of most of the audience was 2023 New Year symbol – a cheetah rabbit named Chernysh. The fluffy beast had a good appetite – he gladly ate fresh carrots offered by the distinguished guests and kept curiously gazing at another unusual participant of the opening ceremony – a serval named Mila, representative of one of the rarest and largest breeds of domestic cats.

Not only the Pet Show, but its permanent participants are also celebrating an anniversary. In 2022, “Varieta” club of cat lovers is turning 30, “Amur Neva” club – 25. For the 25th time, the Pet Show hosts “Way Home” Shelter Festival, where anyone can get a pet or help animals from kennels.

Visitors of the exhibition, many of which were children, were drawn to the area with animals from shelters: there were cats and dogs, an exhibition of pet rabbits, a white deer, a camel and a donkey on which young visitors could take a ride.

For lovers of exotics and extreme sensations, there is a terrarium with a three-meter python, lizards, geckos, caimans, an African hedgehog, frogs, bird-eating tarantulas, scorpions, snails, stick bugs and other reptiles and insects.

Not only animals compete at the Pet Show. At the exhibition site there is a contest for dog groomers, in the lecture hall – tips and best practices from experts, lectures by veterinarians, cynologists, animal psychologists and bloggers. For children, there is a vivid show program with contests, games and dancing.

There is also dancing with dogs, goods for animals, contests, workshops, fascinating lectures and, last but not least, memorable prizes.
