The 78th anniversary of the break of the siege of Leningrad – we remember and thank you!

On January 27, the Day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Fascist blockade by the Soviet Troops, two benefit performances Astoria Hotel were held at the Baltic House State Theater-Festival with the support of EF-International Ltd and the Government of St. Petersburg. Veterans of the Great Patriotic War received tickets free of charge.

The production was created based on the work having the same name by Alexander Stein by the “Extraordinary Miracle” charity foundation, on whose initiative similar charity events have been organized in Orenburg for many years. The roles in the play were performed not by professional actors, but by well-known persons of the city of Orenburg and the Orenburg region: representatives of state authorities and business, doctors, police officers and others.

The performance is dedicated to the heroic defenders and residents of Leningrad, who fought for their native land at the cost of their own lives. The plot is based on the fate of several families in the besieged city and living in the Astoria Hotel.

Both performances drew full houses. The main spectators were veterans - siege survivors of Leningrad. A afternoon session was organized especially for them. And tickets for the evening performance were sold at the box office, and all the funds collected from the sale of tickets were directed to support veterans.

The initiative to organize the performance in St. Petersburg belonged to Sergey Voronkov, CEO of EF-International Ltd. “As one of the most important brands of St. Petersburg, ExpoForum could not stay away from the celebration of the great date – the Day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade by Soviet troops, so it was decided to make such a gift to the city and veterans. The liberation of Leningrad is one of the greatest pages of our history, – says Sergey Voronkov. – It is important to preserve memory about it and provide assistance to those who, together with the city, experienced these tragic days. This is our conscious position.”
