The management of the State Expert Review Board in St. Petersburg has issued its approval of the project for the reconstruction of utilities, pipelines, and roads on the section of Peterburgskoye Highway stretching from Pulkovskoye Highway to Detskoselsky Boulevard. Construction work will involve widening the road to create four to six lanes, and building an overpass over the Baltic Branch of Russian Railways and an interchange by the Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The second and third phases of the reconstruction work will involve constructing an interchange at the intersection of Vitebskoye Highway and Petersburgskoye Highway, extending Yuzhnaya Street, which connects Petersburgskoye Highway and Volkhonskoye Highway, and building a bypass road around the Convention and Exhibition Centre.

ExpoForum, in cooperation with the Government of St. Petersburg, which in turn included the project in its targeted road construction programme, is responsible for the Peterburgskoye Highway Reconstruction Project.
