“Transtec 2018” projects receive federal support

On 6 March, the Minister of Transport of Russia Maxim Sokolov signed the order to set up the programme committee for the 6th International Ports and Shipping Conference and the 14th TRANSTEC Exhibition. The events will take place at Lenexpo on 9–11 October.

This is the Minister’s first order regarding TRANSTEC events, positioned since 2012 as conferences and exhibitions for ports and shipping development. The programme committee’s establishment acknowledges the independent status and importance of the events, and the confidence put in them by the sector business and expert community. Previously, the events were not independent but were included (since 1998) as part of international Eurasian transport conferences. The last directive on TRANSTEC was adopted in 2006.

Maxim Sokolov’s order is in accordance with the Working Schedule of the Marine Collegium under the Government of Russia for 2018 and the Working Schedule of the Marine Council under the St. Petersburg Government for 2018. Deputy Minister of Transport of Russia Victor Olersky, who heads the Federal Agency for Maritime and River Transport, was appointed chairman of the committee. His co-chairmen are Sergey Baryshnikov, Rector of the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping, Sergey Buyanov, Director General of JSC Central Order of the Red Banner of Labour Research, Design and Development Maritime Shipping Institute, and Andrey Lavrishchev, Director General of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Rosmorport”.

Alexandra Bakhmutskaya, Director of the St. Petersburg State Public Institution “External Transport Agency”, and Alexander Krebs, chief expert of the Marketing and Sales Department of JSC United Shipbuilding Corporation (JSC USC) confirmed their participation in the programme committee’s work.

Sergey Buyanov, Director General of JSC Central Order of the Red Banner of Labour Research, Design and Development Maritime Shipping Institute, Alexander Tikhomirov, Director General of JSC TRANSTEC NEVA EXHIBITIONS, and Tatyana Chekalova, adviser to the Governor of St. Petersburg, executive secretary of the Marine Council under the St. Petersburg Government, were included in the TRANSTEC 2018 secretariat of the programme committee.

The 6th International Ports and Shipping Conference and the 14th TRANSTEC 2018 Exhibition will form a venue for discussion, demonstration and promotion of efficient business and managerial solutions, technologies, equipment and systems for such areas as port-oriented and engineering logistics, competitiveness of sea and river ports, engineering and design provision for the development of ports, sea and shore infrastructure facilities and inland waterways infrastructure, condition and development prospects for sea shipping, inland waterways shipping, passenger and cruise sea and river shipping, development of the Arctic maritime transport system, environmental friendliness and safety of water transport, and IT technologies in shipbuilding, etc.
