Opening of “MedIn 2019”: Healthy Cities and a Healthy Society

On October 22, the St. Petersburg International Medical and Pharmaceutical Forum “Medical Industry” was opened in the Expoforum Convention and Exhibition center.

The opening ceremony conveyed the overall themes of safeguarding public health, technological advances in medicine and its evolution, the availability of medical services to the population and preventing illnesses.

Vladimir Kirillov, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg, welcomed participants on behalf of Alexander Beglov, Governor of St. Petersburg, and emphasized that “the Forum will focus on promoting innovative developments and implementing modern medical technologies in medical practice.”

Dmitry Lisovets, Chairman of the Healthcare Committee of St. Petersburg, offered his congratulations on the opening of the first St. Petersburg International Medical and Pharmaceutical Forum “Medical industry” and noted that “the Forum should not only focus on the achievements of the healthcare industry, but also on preventing illnesses.”

Larisa Kamanina, acting Deputy Governor of the Vologda Region, spoke on behalf of Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Governor of the Vologda Region and head of the “Healthy Cities” association, and stressed “that new medical techniques, best practices, innovative technologies and, of course, this Medical Forum are the cornerstones of developing public healthcare.”

Vladimir Spirin, Director General of the St. Petersburg Medical Tourism Agency, greeted participants of the forum on behalf of the St. Petersburg Tourism Committee and the St. Petersburg Medical Tourism Agency and wished everyone good health and successful work at the Forum.

Tatiana Shestakova, Executive Director of the Russian Association for the improvement of health and quality of life of the population “Healthy Cities, Districts and Towns”, congratulated participants and visitors on the opening of “MedIn 2019”, “which is literally a forum about public health” and added: “All Russian cities consider the Medical and Pharmaceutical Forum to be the most important platform for the exchange of innovative technologies to keep every citizen healthy”.

Sergey Volkov, Deputy Director General of ExpoForum International, noted that the Forum is evolving and changing to keep pace with social changes in the field of health and healthcare.

The St. Petersburg International Medical and Pharmaceutical Forum “MedIn 2019” will run until October 24.
 

The Forum will include conferences, workshops, a flash-mob and the Medical Tourism Conference, which will highlight special features of medical tourism in Russia and St. Petersburg and the role of professional communities in its development.
