Taurida Orchestra Filled EXPOFORUM with Music
The fourth concert of a famous music ensemble took place on November 16 at the venue of the congress and exhibition center. Melodies from American, Soviet and Russian films were introduced to the audience: from Schindler's List and Chicago to Office Romance and Beware of the Car.
This time the Taurida Philharmonic Orchestra of the Leningrad Region added some interactive activity, mysteries and humor to its show.
Musicians appeared in front of spectators one by one playing In the Hall of the Mountain King, a famous piece by Edvard Grieg. During the concert they offered guests to sing the song of the robbers - Byaki-Buki by Gennady Gladkov – from the cartoon The Bremen Town Musicians and to hum their favorite melodies from the Soviet films.
From the Danse Macabre to The Adventures of Indiana Jones, from Beauty and the Beast to Christmas music in films, from Schindler to Chaplin, Chicago and a dramatic soundtrack from Pirates of the Caribbean – the first part of the concert was very diverse.
In the second part, musicians played melodies from films created in the Soviet time by Georgy Sviridov, Isaac Dunaevsky and other celebrated composers - melodies that were very familiar to the audience.
Everyone in the hall felt nostalgic with the sounds of Andrey Petrov’s Morning from Office Romance and Mikael Tariverdiev’s Waltz from The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath! One could dream about underwater worlds while listening to the rumba from Amphibian Man or imagine all those bright images an artist can create with songs from A Box Full of Pencils performed by Alexandra Pobedonostseva, director of the orchestra.
Musicians played two works by a contemporary Russian composer Murat Kabardokov: the Waltz from Francofonia and the soundtrack of Big Village Lights.
Mikhail Golikov, Artistic Director and principal conductor of the orchestra, People’s Artist of Kabardino-Balkaria, warmly thanked artists and spectators.
“Our program is the result of the hard work of the entire orchestra and our Director Alexandra Pobedonostseva!” he highlighted and noted that a series of concerts from the Taurida Orchestra will take place in EXPOFORUM in 2018 thanks to Sergey Voronkov, Director General of EXPOFORUM International. During previous performances the ensemble presented soundtrack hits, Carmina Burana cantata and music from the documentary Man with a Movie Camera.
The concert was finished with a famous lyric waltz from Beware of the Car.
The final New Year Concert of the Taurida Orchestra will take place in the EXPOFORUM Congress and Exhibition Center on December 22.
