On September 13, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a decree approving the Strategy for the Development of Congress and Exhibition Activities until 2030, developed by the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs jointly with the Government of the Russian Federation.

The signing of the order was commented on by the President of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs, General Director of ExpoForum International Sergey Voronkov:

“The document sets target indicators for the development of the congress and exhibition industry by 2030. For example, Russia's share of the global market for international congress events should exceed 1.5%. The volume of the congress and exhibition market in the Russian Federation should be 280 billion rubles, now it is 182 billion. Specialized educational programs will open in 20 universities, the industry will generate over 30 thousand jobs.

This is an important step towards the development of the congress and exhibition industry which is recognized as systemically important at the highest level.

In order to achieve the strategy's targets, consolidation of the entire industry and support from the state are necessary. Some indicators need to be exceeded. For example, the percentage of participation of Russian companies in exhibitions out of the total number on the market. The strategy sets a target of 6%, while in Germany the figure was around 80%”, Voronkov said.

The main goal of the Strategy is to increase the efficiency of promotion of Russian goods and services to domestic and foreign markets, as well as the results of scientific and educational activities through exhibitions, congresses and forums.
