European championship in professional skills - euroskills - to be held at Expoforum

Today, the Worldskills Europe General Assembly unanimously voted at its meeting in Budapest for St. Petersburg to host of the European Championship in professional skills - EuroSkills 2022, and the ExpoForum Convention & Exhibition Centre will be the championship venue.

Governor Georgy Poltavchenko presented St. Petersburg’s application to the General Assembly members, and Alexey Molostvov, ExpoForum International Director for Guest Events, presented the ExpoForum venue.

“This event is of great importance not only for our city, but for the country as a whole. Europe acknowledgesRussia’s andSt. Petersburg’s contribution to professional skills development and highly values the young workers’ training level. The main thing is that they trust our country and city to hold such large-scale events as EuroSkills”, Georgy Poltavchenko said. He emphasized that the decision was taken unanimously, and this cannot fail but to make every Russian orSt. Petersburgresident proud: “This is really a great pleasure. It means that our city, our country are valued and respected all over the world”.

Regional WorldSkills championships have been taking place at the ExpoForum since2015. In2017, the ExpoForum International team put up various constructions over15,500 sq. min total in 2 pavilions and equipped areas for competitions in 74 competencies. They provided loading/unloading, installation, connection of machine-tools weighing over 4.5 tons, provided 48 water supply sources for participants and connected washing facilities on 19 competition areas, provided Internet connection, and arranged local computer networks on competition areas.

“We’ll be able to fully cover the complex with constructions for the EuroSkills championship. We’ll be happy to show guests from all over the world the most state-of-the-art technical capabilities, attract European young people to St. Petersburg and demonstrate Russian young masters’ skills!”, Sergey Voronkov, CEO of ExpoForum International, commented.
